Firmware Downgrade?

My Fenix 8 MIP was getting terrible battery life:

When I first bought it in Oct 2024 with firmware 11.xx, it lasted more than 30 days, with around 3% usage per day.

Now barely 6 month later, it droped to barely 10 days, with around 10-11% usage per day.

The question I have:

Where can I find old firmware file to downgrade my watch? Given that the garmin devs has done a terrible job at battery life, we should choose a firmware we like.

  • I have asked once on tech support on how to downgrade, apparently this is not supported... even the tech guy didn't know how to do it. I fully agree, Garmin should have old firmware available for download and install, but they don't.

  • Have a look at the "Related" threads on the right side of this page. This is a very frequent question, and many of the threads describe exactly how you can downgrade. Or go to the Beta Program forum Wiki and read the official instructions there.

However, the battery consumption is rarely a problem caused by the firmware self. And when it is, Garmin releases a fix rather quickly. Much more likely is a battery gauge reset, some kind of data corruption, inappropriate settings or CIQ apps, or pending downloads of complementary components, that cause the high drain. I recommend looking at the Troubleshooting guide for high battery drain - it helps in many cases.
