Viewing Notifications During Activity

If you have touchscreen disabled during activities then how do you view notifications?

Pressing the upper right button when the notification pops up stops / starts the activity in progress.

Does no responses mean that there is no way to view notifications during an activity if touchscreen is disabled?

Press the DOWN button to view the notification on screen, then press the upper right button to dismiss the notification.
