Fenix 8 reboot

Hello all

My £900+ watch has now rebooted twice in the last 24 hours since the 15.32 update

Anyone else experiencing this issue

  • Today, my Garmin Fenix 8 rebooted 20 times during an 8-hour hike. This is not a one-off issue; it's happening consistently after every update. The device is unreliable and fails to perform essential functions like tracking and navigation, which are critical for outdoor activities.

This is not just a minor inconvenience — it’s a serious safety concern. Garmin markets this device as a tool for outdoor safety, but with every update, the reliability and accuracy are getting worse, potentially putting users in danger.

At this point, it’s clear that Garmin is ignoring the problem and taking us for fools. If this issue isn’t resolved immediately, people should consider legal action for the damages caused by defective products being sold as safe and reliable for outdoor use. Continuing to release faulty firmware updates is unacceptable, and it needs to be addressed NOW.

Which maps do you use? The pre-installed topoActive maps ?

  • You are right.

Garmin is on the one hand advertising it's brilliant outdoor Watches and GPS devices for real adventurers to " ...keep your explorations on track."

But on the other hand excludes any liability. For good reasons, as we all can see...

Same is true for all the health and sports scientific stuff. Can you trust VO2 max algorithms, running efficiency and all that elaborated stuff? Does it actually make sense? The longer I use their devices the more I think it's just lipstick on a pig. But the same is true for all competitors as well.

But at least, the thing should not reboot randomly...
