How to turn off Golf ‘Laps’ on Watch?

Whenever I’m playing golf, using the golf activity, my watch will announce (vibrate at seemingly random intervals) and display a ‘lap’ style screen (e.g. 3; 20:43). I have no use for laps / lap announcements during golf, and I can’t find a setting within the watch or on GC to disable it. Any ideas?

PS This is NOT an audible lap announcement from the connected phone (a previous issue with lap alerts), this is the watch itself showing laps during a golf activity.

I read on these forums that you can turn off the laps announcement via the Garmin Connect app.
Settings > Audio Prompts> Lap Alert - Switch off.

Thanks, but that is to resolve the connected smart phone producing lap audio prompts, not the watch itself vibrating and displaying the pop-up lap screen as pictured.

Very strange! Never happened to me during golf, don’t see a setting for it, and can’t imagine why anyone would want it.

Sounds like a pretty annoying bug.

This is just a guess but have you tried resetting the Golf activity settings (not watch settings) to default?

If that doesn't work, something else you could try is opening another activity which does support laps (like Run), turning off auto laps in that activity, and then opening the Golf activity.

I was thinking about jus that.
Turning off Laps for the walking activity as I presume that when you record the Golf round as an activity, it uses the walking activity as a base for recording where you walked on the course.

I have turned it off myself but won't be able to test it out untill later.
