Device lock: on/off - timeout

Hi,

I moved from F7SS to F8SS (sw 15.31) a couple of weeks ago after the F7 dropped on a hard ground and stopped working (Garmin apparently got it repaired and the F7 is on its way back home at the moment). Anyhow, I’m generally satisfied with the F8, and I’ve had little problems so far, except for the Daily summary not popping up.

I’d like to ask how to set the timeout of the device lock? It seems to be 8s on mine but I cannot find the setting.

Related to that, there’s a quite annoying “feature” when getting ready to start an activity (for example before a race starts).
After HRM sensor and GPS acquisition, the device will automatically locks itself if you don’t press Start within 8s. Pretty annoying to have to unlock it in a stand-by situation like this! It def didn’t do that on F7.

What country are you from? I am not aware that Garmin repairs. Garmin usually replaces defective devices with new or refurbished ones.

I’m in Finland and, as far as i understood, they send the items to Denmark for repair. My Fenix 7 wasn’t under warranty anymore, so I was told they’ll first try to repair it.

They first charged 257€, if it’d need to be replaced. But in the end they could repair it and that costed me 57€ (200 were credited back to my credit card).
