15.31 Battery 10 days 50% 7 days 30% 4days 16% same day

Is incredible, I've got a fenix 8 solar 47mm MIP. With this firmware. Last night 50%, this morning  30% and now 16%

@ what's happend  We need that garmin people fix all bugs and problems.

I have been more garmin watches and I'm thinking that  this is the worst of them.

update!  I charged yesterday at 100% at 20:00h. Today same hour 20:00 h. 65%. Without activities this decrease is incredible after the last firmware I haven’t any problem and now one day 35% battery without activity this is incredible

  • My F8 solar 47mm MIP is not quite as drastic but with most settings off I can only get 10 days max. Battery has been a disaster since launch.

  • I'm not happy with battery life either, and it seems that AMOLED version perfoms better in this field, I have a feeling that it get more attention than MIPS these days...

I wonder if you tried to disable bluetooth at night to see if it changing anything for you?

  • Same here,  10 days on my 51mm solar.   Doesn't matter how little I use gps,  what watch face  or sensors are on.

Garmin is currently investigating my battery logging data

  • Hi all, The battery of my Fenix 8 51mm MIP Solar watch is simply Thumbsup. I activate all wifi, blood oxygen activated all day, Bluetooth. One workout per day 30 minutes. I easily last 20 days.

  • That is what is so strange,  some MIPs have quick draining and others do not. Mine has needed a charge every 10-11 days since I got it.

I logged the battery and got my files over to Garmin on May 6th, I'll reach back out on June 6th (give them a month to review) if I don't hear back from them sooner

  • Yes, that's what I saw on the forum. I really have a crazy phenomenon, I explain the same model from one person to another the battery life is not at all the same. With a big difference.

  • I participated in it too, but never heard back, I'll try to reach them out as well to see if they found anything.

  • This night 100% to 84%  20:00h  without touch de watch and sleeping to 7 am.  Please give us a solution soon. I don’t want a Casio in my wrist of 1200€. Garmin don’t play with us

  • Sent my battery logs to Garmin in April. They replied me some time in May stating:

"Based on the battery logs we've received and reviewed we can see your watch is getting a projected battery life of about 11-16 days which, based on your watch usage and watch settings, is within our expectations. In your charge cycles you are performing around 5-7.5 hours of GPS activity (20-41 minutes per day).

With this in mind having reviewed the sets of logs you sent in we have not found any cause for concern and the device does look to be working as we would expect."

During the battery logging, my watch lasted slightly less than 10 days with 8% left. I did slightly less than 7.5hrs of GPS activities using auto-select mode for GPS settings.

I tracked my battery % on paper and noted that my watch lost ~10% or more battery in less than a single day on 2 occasions and this is without any activities. For example, from 21 March 0125hrs to 23 March 0135hrs, my watch battery dropped from 47% to 14%. This is with 1x 60 min run (4% drain) and 1x 90 min run (4% drain). So 25% drain in two days outside activities.

    My watch settings:
    Watchface: Portal
    Gesture off
Back light 10% with 8 sec timeout
    Alert tones off
    Button tones and vibration off
    SPO2 off
    Garmin share off
    Incident detection off
    Notifications off
    WiFi off
Bluetooth off (on only to sync to phone, 2-3 times a day).
Based on fenix 8 specs for 47mm solar, battery life on smartwatch mode is 21 days (my watch actually stated 25 days on full charge based on my settings, so even lighter than Garmin's settings), and 48 hours for all systems for GPS settings.
Based on everything I just said, I can't believe Garmin is stating 11 days is considered normal based on my usage, and that >10% battery drain in less than a day outside of activities is within specs.
  • At the time I purchased my 51mm battery life was stated at up to 30 days with normal usage.   At 10-11 days between charge that's about 1/3 the specification.  A typical margin of error on a battery device is +/- 10%.

A statement like you received of this is normal is not normal.   Something is definately off.
