Shot tracking still isn't working, unless you restart the watch after starting the round of golf.
I have reported this in both beta and on here but because Garmin can't answer the question they lock the topic so you can't comment on it.

Updated July 17th, 2025
A hot fix was released to resolve the issue with Autoshot no longer working.
The hot fix was released via update version 15.33 for the fenix 8 series. Please keep an eye out for…
I am having the same issue. I upgraded from an Epix gen 2 that worked well. The new Fenix (Purchased at Christmas 2024) was working until about 2 -3 weeks ago mid-late May 2025, and now the shot tracking…
There is a fix: forums.garmin.com/.../beta-version-15-33---available-ota
Have tried the new 15.33 update with the Fenix 8. Better but not close to fixed yet, imo. Works pretty well every 3rd hole, if that. Wonder why this is so difficult to fix? Worked earlier this summer before one of the updates came out in June. Still needs work
We are confident in the fix that was released after we identified and fixed the cause of the issue. If you are experiencing some shots being missed, I highly recommending speaking with a golf specialist in Garmin Support to discuss the issue so your shot data can be reviewed on our end.
I agree that the fix is good. The one missing element is that the stroke index or handicap value is now missing from the hole view.
The lead wrist is the wrist the watch should be worn on. So if using right handed clubs, the watch should be worn on the left wrist. If using left-handed clubs, the watch should be worn on the right wrist.
The user profile setting on the watch should reflect the correct wrist worn on as well so the sensors detect the swing correctly in a directional manner.
To wear the watch on the leading hand is correct, I wear my watch right and switch to left when playing golf. I never switched the user setting to left in the past, but still my swing was detected almost 100%, In v15.32 my watched worked still very reliable after a power down before playing. I will check with adapting the user profile and report back to the forum tomorrow, but I have no high hopes.
I am sad to confirm my prediction of yesterday, being right handed, playing right handed clubs, putting the watch on my left wrist as always adapting the settings in the user profile to left hand wearer resulted in again a lot of missed shots.
If there is a change to my previous findings, it is the detection became even worse. On the driving range almost 50% of my shots were missed. Basically anything which was decently hit was not detected. Only thinned shots, off center hits and fatted ones were detected. This was no different on the course any good hit was missed. Shot detection is even worse than my first reaction on the release of v15,33.
For me the Fenix 8 has become unusable as a golf watch. I still have my Approach S62 and I will reinstate this watch for golf.
@Garmin-Cody please make it possible to revert to v15.32 easy, as this had a much more reliable shot tracing with the power off/on workaround. Your remark to speak to the golf expert is out of order. The update broke a working golf app on the Fenix 8. It might be better you and your team check why v15.31 and v15.32 were released in the first place.
One thing is sure V15.33 was not the bullet-proof answer, even though a lot of users report that the fix was successful.
Agree with Ron, verbatim. The autoshot almost never works with drive. May turn on for second shot may not. Either way, not usual to get a drive of 280+ yards because the watch is adding 2 shots together. All told, maybe 1 hole of 18 gets all the shots correct. The software is severely compromised and unusable. Using 15.33 update and even now trying the beta 17.18 offering hoping that would change things. Nope
Amazing to me that Garmin can make a dedicated gold watch that works fine. Also amazing that my wife’s vivoactive has normal Autoshot. But, a 1k watch made by the same manufacture has a bug in the golf app that cannot be fixed?? Strange
The issue on this topic has been resolved through the 15.33 hot fix we made available.
There are factors during a round of golf that can result in a shot becoming missed for a variety of reasons outlined on our support page linked here: My Garmin Golf Watch Is Not Detecting Shots Automatically
If you have concerns with any shots being missed on your rounds since updating your fenix to 15.33, you should contact Garmin Support to speak with a Golf Specialist, and then your scorecard Autoshot data can be reviewed...along with other factors through your discussion to determine what may have caused a shot to be missed.
