Shot tracking still isn't working, unless you restart the watch after starting the round of golf.
I have reported this in both beta and on here but because Garmin can't answer the question they lock the topic so you can't comment on it.

Updated July 17th, 2025
A hot fix was released to resolve the issue with Autoshot no longer working.
The hot fix was released via update version 15.33 for the fenix 8 series. Please keep an eye out for…
I am having the same issue. I upgraded from an Epix gen 2 that worked well. The new Fenix (Purchased at Christmas 2024) was working until about 2 -3 weeks ago mid-late May 2025, and now the shot tracking…
There is a fix: forums.garmin.com/.../beta-version-15-33---available-ota
Played today, shot tracking is not reliable for me, about 20-30% of my shots were not detected.
Conclusion for me shot tracking is working, but it is less sensitive then before version 15.31.
Shots that were really hit clean and smooth (forged irons + Wilson duo soft and low swing speed 70-75 m/hr) were not detected. Shots with a lesser contact no problem. It is similar to my earlier post about performance on the driving range for the swing trainer.
I've played two rounds on v15.33. Shot detection is improved, but still spotty. I agree with @Ron plays golf that 20-30% of my shots are not detected. For me, it feels closer to 30%.
I sincerely hope this can be resolved soon. I upgraded from my Fēnix 6 which was very dependable. It's very disappointing that my new watch is less dependable.
Thanks Sappersix for reporting the same result on the 15.33 upgrade. I didn’t wanted to be to pessimistic, but more than 30% missed shots is not unrealistic in my opinion.
Prefer the 15.32 problem restart the watch and on a complete round it hardly missed any shot. Better a workaround with max reliability than the unreliable results the 15.33 version gives you and me.
I can't confirm that the shot tracking is worse than with version 13.XX. Also, the workaround doesn't register every shot. Soft approach shots are often not detectable by the watch. There's simply no corresponding impact to register the shot. That was the case with version 13.XX, and it's the same with the workaround.
I tried the 15.33 firmware. Shot tracking didn't register my tee shots for the following holes: 2, 4, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14. It registered the shots after the tee shot but missing the tee shot.
Then there must be differences between the Fenix 8 watches if you're still having such major problems. So far, it's been working perfectly for me, but I'll have to wait and see if it gets worse again. In any case, I won't do the next update right away; I'll wait and see. Does anyone else in the forum, apart from me, have NOT any problems with hit tracking?
@Bernie another option is swing speed and/or shot quality. If you flush your shot feedback is much lower than with an off center shot. And also ground contact could make detection easier. This might be inline with @parkdigital ‘s observation that a lot of his tee shots were not detected.
A lower swing speed can also result in less feedback from the impact as a soft ball might do. My watch is a Fenix 8 Amoled 51 mm.
Conclusion, a lot of variables can impact the reliability, but I thing is sure the problem is not solved only made more complex.
Is it possible to issue similar hot fix also for other non-Approach series that are suffering same issue? My example is Forerunner 955, however it seems also other models are facing same issues after the most recent FW update.
thanks!
