Golf shot tracking

Shot tracking still isn't working, unless you restart the watch after starting the round of golf.

I have reported this in both beta and on here but because Garmin can't answer the question they lock the topic so you can't comment on it.

  • I reported it at the beginning of the beta 15 firmware and for the 1st 4 weeks they chose to ignore it.

  • I am having the same issue.  I upgraded from an Epix gen 2 that worked well.  The new Fenix (Purchased at Christmas 2024) was working until about 2 -3 weeks ago mid-late May 2025, and now the shot tracking STOPPED WORKING.  This clearly needs to be a priority within Garmin.  When spending $1,200 for a watch that was purchased for this specific application, not working properly simply isnt an option.  I hope the approriate level of attention is underway to escalate this to developers for a fix. Thank you.

  • Have same isse, not automatic measure my shots. Fenix 8 amoled sw 15.31

  • wanted to add a +1 on this, tried factoring resetting the whole watch, re-install garmin golf, all settings enabled as the guide but no luck. most holes don't even show up as being played in the app, of course no shot tracking. needs to be fixed asap, played golf once a week and this is a big feature for me, disappointing no fix yet, used to work just fine out of the box before latest updated!

  • I Agree,I first reported it about 7 weeks ago and they chose to ignore the issue for 4 weeks.

Bunch of clowns, you pay almost £1100 for a watch and expect the basics to work, not break every time there's a new update.Thinking of getting rid and buying something else.

  • Since this is a known issue, to me the obvious fix is to push out the previous rev level of software that worked. The benefit of 15.31 with shot tracking not working isn’t a good option as all users wait for a fix.  When the next update has been thoroughly tested and verified to WORK CORRECTLY, then we can get the next version.
What do we need to do as users to go back to the previous software revision level????  Thank you.

  • Unfortunately there is not an option to backdate the software to a previous version.

While we work on releasing a solution for the Autoshot feature, the workaround of rebooting the watch after the round has been started can be used to track and record shots during golf rounds in the meantime...we recognize that the workaround is not ideal, and don't consider that to be an acceptable fix, but this option is something temporary while a fix is still in process of being made available.

Please know that this issue is currently being investigated, and we will contact you via email as soon as we have any further information.

  • Hopeful garmin comes forward with a fix soon.

However, I decided to pull the trigger on the arccos tracker system to take care of my shot tracking going forward.  Will still use garmin watch for on the course for live ranges and all that good stuff but taking the hybrid approach now with the two products.

Will probably go back to full garmin and ditch arccos as the subcription cost for arccos is not great.  But will do so only after garmin totally improves the app to that level. They also need to get the club sensors to work with the fenix 8.

Hopefully garmin escalates this higher on the fix chain as I can imagine I'm not the only customer with this thought process.  If garmin could've at least provided a timeline estimate for fix, a fast retroactive update, then I wouldn't have sought out an alternative.

  • these solutions are a disaster, power off, power on, press button, dance, pray and reset. Garmin plese fix all problems that the users we are reported and update all weeks
