It needs sorting out,it's a pain having to remember to restart the watch before you tee off.
Agree. It's annoying - hopefully the data provided allows for a fix soon. A friend I was golfing with has Fenix 8 as well and the process was the same for him (no resume option provided but shot tracking worked)
The fix worked for me but when I completed the round my watch restarted itself and the *** tracking was lost and not uploaded to the golf app, only my scores were.
I think this also is causing the Tempo Training to not work as well. My watch didn't detect any swings for golf tempo training after 15.31 but did work before I updated the watch.
I noticed my tempo training was not working after the update either. It worked with the restart workaround but I don’t feel like it was capturing every swing as multiple swings showed the exact same speeds even when I swung faster or slower.

I have the same problem with Shot Tracking working intermittently. I am on FW 15.31.
Round 1. It stopped prompting me for which club I used mid round. Checked to make sure that Club prompt was enabled.
Round 2. Started golf round. Shot tacking not working and not prompting me for clubs and not giving me distances.
Round 3. Worked without any issues
Round 4. Started round, Shot tracking not working. Had to restart the watch and then it worked for the rest of the round.
For those who Cody has reached out to please upload files per his instructions. It will help get this resolved faster!
Reported my issues with this today (5/30/2025). Was in touch with Garmin support via chat. They provided me with the "work around" to try to get by for now (obviously not ideal situation or solution). I provided the requested files for my watch via Garmin express to the support rep I was in contact with. I hope they can turn a solution around quickly. Seems this has been escalated within the Garmin community for quite a bit now so hope they are close to a real solution here.
