My watch updates without wlan or phone connection. How is it possible?

I have a question about updates to my Fenix 8.

This is the second time in the last two weeks that my watch has performed updates without Wi-Fi or a connection to my smartphone enabled.

How is this possible?

When this happens, I wonder if it drains the battery, since it needs to perform a routine check.

Is your Watch paired to phone and turned of Bluetooth or not paired at all? I think it turns on Bluetooth during night. It syncs altitude for me every night even when Bluetooth is of.

So you observed the same behavier with your watch: synchronization, even, when Bluetooth is turned off.

Is your watch paired to phone, when it updates/syncs?

The bluetooth on my phone is turned off as well, otherwise it drains the battery of my phone within half a day.
