Fenix 8 - anyone happy with his watch?

As usual, the majority of people posting in these forums are people who encounter issues with their product.

My simple but serious question: are there also people who love their Fenix 8 amoled or solar? And why?

Anyone with no issues at all?

Cause I am thinking of buying a Fenix 8, but I am hesitant...

I have a perfect functioning Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire wich I keep on software versionn17.28

Greetings,

  • I Love my F8! No regrets or issues.

  • I really haven't found any other face that seem to be be as energy efficient as Glance. I really liked the 'Falcon' face but it seemed to drain the battery much faster. I don't have a hard/fast test to confirm specifics, but after using Glance for 3-4 months and trying Falcon for a week, I needed to charge sooner than every 7 days I comfortably get with Glance. I didn't change any other settings going back and forth between faces and my weekly mileage is fairly consistent. In any case, I'm back with Glance Pro and am very happy with it. Good luck.

  • Do not buy the Fenix 8! I have had my Fenix 8 since September, and besides the battery and the flashlight, the rest of the features are not very well integrated. I recommend Instinct 3, which is a few times less expensive and has the same features, or Suunto Race S or Coros. That is my second Fenix watch, and I will never repeat that mistake again. Wearability is zero ultra heavy, even with the original nylon band, Ultra Fit. Non-stop bugs. Extremely poor design of the watch faces. IQ Store provides some watch faces, but it is mild to say that these are amateurs.

  • The instinct 3 is a great choice and considered it but it’s not quite as simple as the instinct 3 being a cheaper version of the fenix:

    - plastic vs stainless steel/titanium of the fenix

    - no proper speaker which is one of the reasons I upgraded from the epix pro, the fenix speaker noises don’t grate

    - bigger display on the fenix

    - no touchscreen on the instinct

    - no WiFi on the instinct (not a dealbreaker for some but it makes things so much easier)

    - instinct 3 has 3gb storage for maps rather than 32gb; not sure how Garmin squeeze them on the instinct

personally I’d take a version of the instinct only if it had a touchscreen, decent speaker that doesn’t beep like a tamagotchi and WiFi, and could store a decent number of maps.

  • I love my watch - Fenix 8 43mm since January 2025.  I have had zero issues.  I use it for running, walking, hiking, kayaking, indoor treadmill, elliptical, strength training and yoga.   I have it connected to an Android phone so I get all the usefulness of the smart watch features, which is a nice-to-have as far as I'm concerned, I'd be ok without the smartwatch stuff.  But it works well for music control ( I don't download music but use it to fast forward thru or stop songs).   The stock watch band irritated my wrist unfortunately, so I have to go with 3rd party watch bands but they look pretty decent.  Previously I owned all of the Venu models, and a long time ago I had the Forerunner 205.

I prefer the AMOLED screen because the reality is that I spend a lot of time indoors since I still work a full time desk type job, and the screen looks really nice.  I do full day adventures at most, and the battery lasts just fine even with GPS on for hours at a time.   I like the buttons on the Fenix a lot more than I thought I would, since they make it really easy to use the watch with sweaty / dirty hands.    I'd buy this watch again if anything happened to this one.
