Fenix 8 - anyone happy with his watch?

As usual, the majority of people posting in these forums are people who encounter issues with their product.

My simple but serious question: are there also people who love their Fenix 8 amoled or solar? And why?

Anyone with no issues at all?

Cause I am thinking of buying a Fenix 8, but I am hesitant...

I have a perfect functioning Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire wich I keep on software versionn17.28

Greetings,

T

  • I had one crash shortly after I turned it on for the first time.  During setup, the firmware was updated, and never a problem since.

  • No issues at all, very happy to replace my Apple Watch Ultra with Fenix 8 51mm

  • Very happy with my 51mm AMOLED. No issues.

  • Habe gerade das Karten Update für die Topo Europa installiert.

Was sehe ich, nur noch die Basiskarte.

Die 8er AMOLED ist für mich der letzte Dreck...

  • I'm happy with mine Fenix 8 solar 51mm

  • I've lived through a lot of "day of release" (FR935, FR945LTE, FR955) which had tons of bugs which took close to a year to get fixed, and it seems (from what I've read), the Fenix 8 follows this path. yet, I didn't buy my 47 AMOLED until 5 weeks ago, so there was 7 months for Garmin to address some of the more major ones before I took ownership.

in general, I like my Fenix 8. there are a couple minor bugs that I've managed to work my way around. I've also gad 2 spontaneous reboots in 5 weeks that thankfully didn't happen during an activity or saving one. that is the most disquieting.

I bought this watch knowing very well what I was getting into: an overpriced watch (thankfully I got 20% + other cashback rebates, but it's still crazily priced IMHO) with some features I don't need (diving, voice). but I was able to sell my FR955 to a friend, and justified the expense on something I use daily and will hopefully keep and use for at least 4 years, if not more, as I think the technology has matured, much like cell phones.

I _love_ the flashlight : the primary reason why I upgraded as crazy as it sounds to someone who hasn't experienced the utility, and I've grown quite fond of the appearance after 8 years of plastic bodied watches (although the titanium is more fragile to scuffs and scrapes).

all in all, it's lived up my expectations. I've been fairly happy with battery life with AOD, but a bit surprised that a lot of the factory watch faces are not as efficient as many Connect IQ ones (that was never the case with my prior watches). overall, the factory watch faces (digital) don't appeal to my tastes and are also inefficient. that's a major disappointment which I sort of knew going in (although I didn't know they were inefficient).

  • I upgrade to a fenix 8 solar sapphire from an epix pro gen2 (mostly for the revamped ui and mips, the amoled map was annoying due to constantly dimming the display)

I am satisfied with the watch so far but extremely dissatiafied with garmin themselves (connect+, lack of feature updates and mostly bugfix releases)

  • very happy with my basic steel F 8 Amoled, upgraded from F6Pro, no problems

  • I've had 0 issues with my F8 47mm amoled. I know there were issues for some in the early firmware - however I never experienced any problems. Been rock steady for months with almost daily runs logged. I generally charge once a week for about 2hrs. I could probably get 10 days but have just gotten into a routine to charge Sunday evenings. Also - I've found a bunch of 3rd party watch faces that work for me as well. The stock faces are decent, but if I'm being honest, I have a hard time seeing some of the smaller fonts. I use one called 'Glance' (it's free). I also upgraded to the pro version to get a few more metrics displayed. Best wishes with your choice.
