Can you recommand switching to Fenix 8 ?

Hello Dear Fenix 8 owners!

Can you recommand switching to Fenix 8 from Fenix 7 Pro, for a enthusiast?

My F7Pro Sapphire Solar works pretty well, no issues.

Is that also the case for Fenix 8 right now?

I'm considering switching because I would love to have assistant, diving sensors and route recalculating.

But are those new features working as they sopose to do?

Is the microphone assistant working well? In german? has somebody experiance in using it in german?

Thanks alot for your feedback and experience exchange!

Cheers

  • My Fenix 7X solar is staying in the drawer at the moment. Sometimes when I see it I think why I bought Fenix 8 while it has almost no real difference.

Sound is better with Fenix 8 as it has a speaker. LEDs are better. The rest are shenanigans that are nice to have. Microphone is good, yeah. However, I get a call, just before I slide the button on the screen another notification comes and I can't answer the call from my watch, it's just lost somewhere. :) Also Google Home has some of its quirks. Instead of taking to watch sometimes it turns on the phone and kinda I talk to phone instead of the watch etc.

Fenix 8 is good watch but it's difficult to learn as I don't sometimes understand if a thing is problem or a feature. :D Fenix 7 is still a solid watch and maybe more stable than Fenix 8 atm...

  • I bought this watch because I wanted a better optical heart rate sensor than the one on the Fenix 7. However, my main reason was to get a more responsive map that didn’t lag so badly. It never crossed my mind that this watch would still use the same old processor. In fact, I even think my 6 Pro had the same processor.

Sometimes, the map and navigation work, but other times they are so sluggish that they’re practically unusable. Maybe they do work, but the lag is so bad that you just give up. I think the 7 Pro is a better option because the new operating system is simply too much for this processor to handle.

Maybe there is something wrong with mine?

  • Engineering team needs to work more on the optimisation side. I'm sure they'll find points to accelerate map page. However, I think they work more on killing bugs and new features side.

6 Pro had another processor and that was slower for mapping and navigating but not more useless than 7 or 8. They basically do the same job.

  • Garmin definitely needs to work on optimizations, but then, also bug fixing. Two of their weakest points lol

  • Hey Gaijin, can you please give us a feedback here, if the new watch doing any better than you're old/replaced? that would be very interessiting.

Apparently I am not allowed to respond to you - my response was deleted by Moderators.

The post you are responding to was not posted by me.  It was originally posted by @gaijindownvoter, but that user has changed their username to which I find directly insulting.

But they are allowed to continue their trolling while my response is deleted.

Sorry you are being confused by all this.

  • Got the replacement. Speaker is WAY louder with calls and voice notes, can actually hear it, so there I already had a defective unit. The map is okay speed wise. Other bugs (software) still there. Fun.

  • “Why do you know that the same CPU is used in the Fenix 8 as in the Fenix 7?”

  • If you want to report bugs to support every month, yest sure , why not to buy.

    • Is there a difference in map loading in the replacement?
