HRM Pro Plus needed with Fenix 8?

Hi,

I have come from the fenix 6 where I used the HRM Pro Plus in order to get all those extra stats and metrics for my runs. However, since changing to the F8 i had not noticed that the battery had actually run out in the HRM as all those stats were included from the F8. The only reason i noticed was that my Restoration rate was not included in the stats provided by the watch.

Now here is my question, other that the respiration rate does the F8 do measure everything else that the HRM pro plus does? Also, which is going to bemore accurate?

Ground contact time balance is also something not calculated natively by the watch. My own experience is that just like with wrist HRM, the running dynamics data from the watch is better than nothing, but straps give more reliable looking values with less fluctuations.

Without it I do have ground contact time, but it is missing the balance as you say. I pretty much guessed the HRM would be more accurate. Thanks for the reply.

Actually, there's one more thing: if the watch decides GPS reception is poor (like in a tunnel or underpass), it will rely also on accelerometer data to estimate speed & distance. Since HRM Pro(+) is fixed to the torso (instead of the flailing arm), it will most likely give better speed & distance also (the same of course applies for indoors running/walking). And of course the position of the sensor is ultimately the reason why running dynamics is more accurate with the strap.
