Fenix 8 AMOLED heart rate data dropping during outdoor runs

Hi all, just curious if any others have experienced this.

I have a 2 week old Fenix 8 47mm amoled watch that has been giving me issues during outdoor runs, specifically. First, I have a 168mm wrist and the watch fits it perfectly, so it isn’t a sensor issue due to an oversized watch. What happens is I will start an outdoor run and usually either in the beginning or midway through the run, the sensor will just stop working and I will get no heart rate data. I can actually take the watch off and the sensors won’t be firing at all. This will continue until about 10-15 minutes post run where the heart rate sensor will kick back on and all will be well.

I have not had any issue with indoor treadmill runs or strength workouts, only outdoor runs. It is also not exceptionally cold during these runs, maybe anywhere between 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit. I feel like I’ve seen many others test their fenix watches in much harsher cold weather with no issue. Also, I have no arm tattoos and little arm hair. My Apple Watch Ultra 2 which I have tested against it has had no problems. Really just at a loss with what could be wrong.

Testing I have done to attempt to correct it is restarting the watch, which usually will temporarily fix it but not permanently. I have also made sure firmware is fully updated. Finally I have reset my outdoor run activity to factory settings which initially I thought fixed the problem, but tonight during a suggested workout the problem popped back up. Hard to do a heart rate structured workout without a heart rate.

I’m at a loss and unhappy with the results of a 1,000 dollar watch. Hoping to find answers before I go to any extreme measures.
