"Multisport" activity doesn't appears in the Garmin Connect - 7 months since the launch of the F8!?

Hello everyone!!
I bought Fenix 8 Solar 47mm in October 2024, and then the firmware was very very bad.
And I wrote earlier here that the mixed workout "running-strength" A8 was not saved in GC

Today I tried a mixed workout: "running-strength training"

Method #1: created a "multisport" running-strength training.
Result: running writes normally, but when switching to strength training it does not record repetitions, and when switching approaches it does not change them - that is, it is always Exercise No. 1.
At the end of the activity, a "multisport" activity appears in the GC with running data, but without any data on strength training (no sets, no repetitions, nothing)

Method #2: I started the "Running" activity, then without finishing the activity I changed to "strength training", then back to "Running".
Result: running writes normally, strength training has already writes normally, BUT then the activity is not saved in the GC. There is in the Fenix, but not in the GC! The same issue like 6 months ago!!!

Conclusion: none of the methods has worked properly yet..

Therefore the question to Garmin: What is happening!?

I have been a fan of the Garmin brand for over 6 years and have owned various Garmin watches (Vivoactive, Instinct, Fenix6, Fenix7).
It's been 7 months since the launch of the F8 and now we have the latest firmware 13.35. Why such a basic and uncomplicated function as Multisport or "running-strength-running" still does not work in the flagship premium sports watch Fenix 8 for $1100 by GARMIN?!
We don't need 100500 exotic sports, useless voice assistant and gimmick Solar ring in a sport watch, BUT we need a correct and reliable system with working declared functions and specifications. Competitors doesn't sleeps!!
Hope for understanding!
Thank you

  • Привет! У меня такая же фигня и это малое из того что криво работает в этих часах. Самое противное что они ничего не могут и не хотят исправлять. Вывод - забыть о Гармин и слезть с него навсегда.

  • I'm having the same issue,  just found this morning....

I tried method #2, but when I did a Walk > Strength > Walk ,  but when switched back to the 2nd Walk my Strenght training was discarded.  The watch shows a walk activity,  which does not sync to the Web no matter what.

Earlier I found if I grab the fit file for such stuck activities from the Fenix file system ,  it can be imported to Connect,  but this time I just get an error to try again, it fails.

Same FW version  13.35  Fenix 8

  • Hi, I think I've solved this problem!

    Try this way:

    1) start "Run" and run some distance

    2) click "Change Sport" and select, for example, "Strength", do exercises (in this case, you can even select your personal previously saved workout)

    3) Next, the most important thing - is not to click "Return to Run", but click "Change Sport" again and select "Run". In this scenario, my activity was saved and transferred to Garmin Connect successfully as Multi sport). There will be Run, strength, and run stages..

The total running distance is displayed.. I think this is the only proper way to record Multisport.

Try it and please write your result here. I hope everything works out..

  • Ahh indeed,  I have missed this option in the menu.    I will doublecheck this as soon as I get to do an other round, but now it has been raining for days continuously.

You could also create a dedicated multisport activity,  but if you are like me,  don't do multisport like triathlon,  but only on ad hoc basis  indeed there is not much other option left.

I'll get back on this one in a few days!

Oh, and I really appreciate the testing and all the inputs from you :)

  • Hi, I have the F8 since Oktober 2024. I do multisport all the time and it works like advertised and with F7xPro. I set a key shortcut to changing, and it works always. Mostly I do run-row-run. Also GC displays it properly.

I anyways have set a lot of shortcuts and use them al the time.

    Best of luck,

    J

  • Indeed it worked this way without any issue :)

  • Hello, I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with this. Our engineers were aware of a known issue preventing Multisport activities from syncing. This was resolved with a software update in February.

So if you are still experiencing this, you may try manually uploading this activity.

    1. Connect the watch with a Windows computer
    2. Sign into the Connect account
    3. Select Activities
    4. Select Import select Browse
    5. Open the watch drive
    6. Open the Garmin folder
    7. Locate and open the Activities folder
    8. If the activity is not found in the activities folder, locate and open the TempFIT folder
    9. Select the activity
    10. Select Open
    11. Select Import Data

How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

If the issue continues with additional activities, I would recommend reaching out to Garmin Product Support.

I see the activy in the folder, but i am not able to upload the file. I have never had a problem with the multi sport option (swimrun). What has changed?

  • i am not able to upload the file.

Is there an error message when attempting to upload? There's a good chance the file is corrupt and needs to be repaired. If you want assistance with that, you can reply to this thread - Help Fixing a Corrupt .FIT File
