Automatic Ski run not being properly detected

Hi all,

Using the new Fenix 8 Solar, software version 13.31, I have noticed the automatic ski run detection is not doing a proper job. Mainly, it would seem that waiting for lift, stopping for a short break, etc. are all part of the run - until I'm moving up on the lift.

This, obviously, affects most of the metrics, avg. speed, time spent on the run, distance, among others and overall is not the expected experience to have from a premium device.

Looking through posts on the forum, there's a similar issue here, where in one of the comments it was pointed out that software version 13.31 is bringing a fix to this, which is not the case for me.

Is anyone experiencing the same issue? Garmin, are you aware of the problem and is someone fixing it?

Updating to software 13.35 did not help and the issue still exists.

Hi, I just noticed that during my multiple runs over last 2 days I have downhill skiing as lift whereas lift rides up as ski activity. @garmin ?

Hmm, mine has worked fine across 6 days of skiing now (on new F8 51 AMOLED), 13.31 and 13.35.

Do you have AutoRun on, under Ski Settings?

I'd like to add one more situation, when a lift is going down (gondola in this case), it is also being detected as a run. As you can see in the picture, most of the ride between Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo was detected as a run

Hmm, if I have AutoRun on, mine works perfectly in terms of lifts/runs, 6 days on the F8 (before that my FR955 worked perfectly as well, I've had very few problems with Garmin and ski runs, honestly, going pretty far back in years).

For the Gondola ride down, you'd need to stop or pause for that segment, IME. There's one lift at Whistler-Blackcomb that does this, peak-to-peak, where I've forgotten to pause and it recorded it was a "run", even though it's not covering an established area.
