Fenix 8 47mm solar battery life?

Curious what everyone sees for battery life? My fenix8 solar 47mm drops 10 to 15% a day. No matter what settings or solar i get. Have talked to Garmin and they recommended the usual stuff that did nothing to help. So this watch lasts about 7 days on a charge. Which is awful in my opinion.

  • Well it's kinda sad to be forced to use just that one stock face to try  and get better battery life.

At the moment, I'm only getting around 10 days of battery life with minimal to no activities. And yes, I turned almost everything off already.

Really, this is so disappointing. My 5 year old 945 can last about the same time as my fenix 8 and the rated battery life for 945 is 14 days. I even have more stuff installed on my 945. Something must be very wrong if my fenix 8 with 22 days of rated battery life is struggling to last even half the expected time. Ridiculous. It's been about half a year since fenix 8 was released and garmin is still investigating? This can't be a software issue... Must be a faulty battery or something.

  • Hello Oula! What I meant was that you shouldn't display functions like heart rate, weather, steps, and so on on the Industrial watch face, as these consume a lot of power due to their frequent updates. The ASAP watch face without seconds (including seconds in power mode) is also very energy-efficient. You can achieve the runtime Garmin claims with it. The Endurance watch face includes the weather. This updates every 20 minutes and can therefore consume a lot of battery.
  • I think other things synchronize in the background more often, so I would be surprised if the data fields mentioned by you indeed consume the battery that much.

Especially when the same watch face has no issues with the AMOLED version.

  • I switched back to one of the analog faces (sorry - don't know names) - the one with three data circles - and my battery life is back to about 21 days i.e. losing about 1 day of battery life per day.

  • I've a feeling that something in Beta version was introduced which increased battery drain, as when I switched to beta, I started to charge my watch a bit more frequently and with some of the later subversions like 13.28 or something it seems to increase even more.

  • I can only speak for my 47mm AMOLED. With the current software version 13.35, it lasts the promised 14-16 days, usually consuming 6-7% battery per day. However, this is only with a stock watch face. When using a watch face from Connect IQ, battery consumption increases by 20-40%, reducing battery life to just 10 days. So, as a general tip: third-party watch faces consume a lot of battery.

  • wow, I wish my solar would last 14-16 days... and yes, I'm using stock face with metrics which aren't changing frequently. The most frequently changed metric is seconds, but there was a lot of upvoting to disable seconds on the default watchface so maybe it would happen at some point.

I've a feeling that Solar version isn't the priority this time and developers are mainly focused on AMOLED one, that would explain why this glitch with animation wasn't fixed as it only appears on Solar version.

  • On last few days, I received an update (FW version still 13.35)

However, after the update, I charge full my watch battery around 2 hours, sync all spotify music with restart

after that my watch only comsume less than 5% battery per day with same setting and watch face

i check the widget, it consume around 3% per day

  • That's interesting and not something I see on my watch. Do you have Solar 47mm version ?
