IC4 Schwinn iC4 indoor bike and Fenix 8 Bluetooth Pairing issue

After updating to 13.31, multiple users, including myself (Fenix 8 AMOLED), those with Enduro 3, Forerunner 955, and Fenix 8, are experiencing issues connecting their Schwinn iC4 indoor bike as a Bluetooth speed and cadence sensor. While other devices, such as iPhones with Tacx and older Fenix models, still connect successfully, the affected watches are unable to maintain a connection. Interestingly, some users reported that their watch initially connected before losing the pairing permanently. Other Bluetooth devices, like AirPods and heart rate monitors, continue to work without issue. Rolling back to version 12.35 has resolved the problem for at least one user, suggesting a potential regression in the latest firmware update.

i think they are planning a rollout for Epix which is v20.22. It may be different versions for different watches but belonging to same category of watches

Tried with 13.35 firmware on Felix 8, same issue, the IC8 is not detected!

I just finished chatting with Garmin support and asked if I was willing to "enable logging" on my Edge device.
"Yep! lets do this! hope it gets fixed!"
All that his requested from my side is to turn the on the bike, pedal to activate the sensors on the bike and try to add the sensor on my Edge 1040 device, after 30 seconds (I think it is more than enough!) I have to press the Power button 5x in rapid succession to save the log stored and then sync the Edge device to my Garmin Connect App.

Let's see if this issue gets fixed!
I've done this procedure in "search all", "speed and cadence" and "Smart trainer".
This "enable logging" will only be active for 14 days.

Same issue here - on my Epix Gen 2 the update to v20.22 didn't help and the issue is still there. I have an old Fenix 5 Pro v17.30 lying around and everything is fine there :(

I just emailed Garmin support, maybe if there's enough users sharing this they'll fix it.

ah! I'm so glad I found this thread - I thought I was going crazy.

I just upgraded from my Fenix 6 to Fenix 8 (amoled) and I couldn't for the life of me get the 8 to recognize my schwinn IC4 as a cadence/speed sensor. I even went back and checked with my 6 and it's able to see it fine as well as remove it and re-add it. But my 8 just times out.

I've tried all sensor search and cadence/speed sensor search and nothin.

Is there an official bug report for this yet?

Exposing on the Forum doesn't lead anywhere (based on my very short experience!).
You have to e-mail or chat with a technical support member in order open a ticket on the issue and have traction.
The more people do it, the faster it will be resolved.

Having same issue on my forerunner 965, reached out to chat and they told me to contact the bike manufacturer... worked fine till the new update

Open another chat, you should not cave in to the support guy when it's the update's fault. Open another one and push your opinion, if it worked before it's their fault, not the other way around! Shame on the person who told you to shove it up the bike manufacturer!
