I am assuming you reinstalled Garmin connect on your phone. Did you remove the watch in your phones Bluetooth setting and then try to re pair phone through settings/connectivity/phone /pair phone.
You shouldn't have to do this but strange things happen sometimes performing firmware upgrades.

Hold the menu button
Select Watch Settings
Select System
Select About
Press the Light button roughly 8 times
Select Reinstall software
The watch will reboot and reinstall software. Then try the pairing again. You will want to remove the watch from the phone's Bluetooth menu and the app, before attempting pairing.
If there is no change, I would recommend contacting Garmin Product Support.
