Dynamic Source Switching gone? HRM ANT+ Issues

After the latest update (13.38), the toggle for dynamic source switching seems to be gone. I previously had it disabled and now noticed that my wrist HR is on as well as my HRM HR. I’ve also noticed that my ANT+ connection keeps dropping every few minutes on my Pro+, if I switch the connection to Bluetooth, it seems to fix the issue.

edit: looks like it’s also dropping connection to my kickr core via ant+, again no issues over bluetooth

After a restart, the source toggle is back, but it doesn’t appear to do anything. I have it off, and the HR from the watch still lights up with an HRM connected.

Yeah, it's a bug I already flagged in the beta, but it's not fixed in the official release. One more unfixed bug. Sigh.

that being said the toggle still shows for me (off) in 13.31. Keep in mind to enable/disable you need to be wearing hrm pro then you can do it.

The toggle itself doesn’t seem to be doing anything anymore. I have it off, and the HR on my watch is still on but with only 2 lights instead of all 6

I can confirm that disabling the toggle stayed off for me and this 13.31 update did not affect it.

I'm only getting one HR reading now from HRM pro and not my watch.

Just did a 10-min walk with my HRM to see if it would drop, and it seems okay now. I have source switching off, and I see the HR light on the watch is still on despite the HRM being connected. If I check the fit file, there’s no wrist HR data, which is good, but then why is the wrist HR on? It’s only using 2 lights too, so I assume the data is just being discarded.

This is by design. I read a reply on here somewhere from a Garmin team member saying that the optical sensor still stays on so it is ready to log HR data should the chest strap disappear.

Roughly (and from memory):
Source Switching On
> The watch will log both optical and HRM values to FIT
> The watch will choose the value for the main HR value based on the quality from HRM (not sure if this means a quality value in ant+ data).

Source Switching Off
> The watch will log only the HRM values to FIT
> The optical will remain on so it is ready to log this value should the HRM disappear (stop broadcasting).
> The only way to disable optical is to use jacket mode, or turn off optical HR.

I’ve read in other threads that with Dynamic Source Switching “off” wrist HR still stays on because it’s needed for Garmin Pay but it will not be used for actual HR tracking as the graph from @Federonic shows.

I think it must be referring to the signal quality as I have had perfect data from the WHR replaced by rubbish data from my HRM+
