With the rollout of the Tactix 8 series with several features added, including the rucking activity profile, can we expect that to be added to the Fenix 8 line soon?

In general I think this parameter should be available in each activity with backpack) I can hike without one or carry up to 30 kilo's)

My guess it will stay unique to the T8 for a short while (like Hill and Endurance Score were on the Enduro) and then wider…
I came to the Fenix 8 from the Tactix 7 Ballistics ed. under the assumption that most workout profiles were available to both. Also, I hardly think it would be a good move to exclude rucking on the Fenix…
It might be a tactic 8 only feature (like stealth mode, kill switch, night vision mode, ballistics). Would like to have it,too. We will see.

What is the big difference between rucking and hiking? I know you can add the weight of your backback, but how does that translate into different metric after the ruck/hike? Most of your stats, HR, load, recovery will be the same, won't they?

The "Pack Weight" parameter is indeed available (since a few weeks, and for all watches) also in other activity types, such as Hiking, Walk, Run, Trail Run, etc.
I'm confused as to the usefulness of logging pack weight unless it's somehow used to help calculate VO2 max
Logging it for the sake of having it logged I guess. The additional weight, whether logged or not, should be reflected in more strain on your body, higher HR and bigger load and so on.
According to Garmin's own blog, entering pack weight disables VO2max estimates if the weight is over 2 kg (for activities that support VO2max like walking and running, hiking hasn't ever produced VO2max). I didn't yet find any info on whether the rucking activity produces VO2max estimates, but my guess is not.
The additional weight, whether logged or not, should be reflected in more strain on your body, higher HR and bigger load and so on.
That's what happens automatically anyway. Higher weight » higher HR / lower HRV / higher respiration rate » higher Training Load
The only thing that it does not work for is VO₂max, but you can avoid detecting VO₂max by using either the Hike or the Trail Run with VO₂max disabled, when rucking.
