Text notifications not working

Just got my Fenix 8 and all my notifications are working and coming through to the watch except text messages. Have checked notification settings and it is toggled to on and tried a bunch of stuff i found online and nothing seems to fix it.

  • Are you using Android or iOS as smartphone system? 

  • Same, I am having this issue also no resolution and tried all the tricks I’ve seen on this forum

  • Same issue on mine just got my watch this week, texts came through for a day then nothing  I’ve tried all the tricks online and made sure all notifications are properly on for my iPhone and watch  now I get all notifications/ calls but no texts notifications anymore  

  • after an hour + of cycling all settings, on / off (phone & watch) , I did a factory reset process and still not receiving text notifications. They have been working since I have had the watch, Jan 2025. 

  • The setting recommendations under this step are required by Apple to display notifications on a Bluetooth® paired device. 

    1. From the iPhone Settings, select Notifications.

    2. Ensure that Show Previews is set to either Always or When Unlocked. This is an Apple requirement for any app that you want notifications to display on your Garmin device.
  • Hello. I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. There are a number of settings that can impact smart notifications. Here are some recommendations. 

    • Ensure the watch software is on the latest version using Garmin Express.
    • Ensure the watch OS and the Connect are also up to date. 
    • Keep the app open and running in the background on the phone. 
    • Ensure the phones background refresh is enabled, and avoid using low power mode/battery saver on the phone.
    • Be sure the notifications are enabled in the watch's Connectivity menu, as well as in the watch's Focus mode menu.

    If this issue continues, I would recommend pairing the watch with the phone again from scratch with these steps: 

    1. Uninstall the Connect Mobile app
    2. Clear the phone cache and history
    3. Ensure the watch does not appear in the phone's Bluetooth menu. If it is, please remove the device
    4. Powercycle the watch and phone. 
    5. Reinstall the Connect Mobile app
    6. Try the pairing again ( Be sure there are no other Bluetooth enabled device nearby)
