Workouts for Multisport Activities

Hello,

I do make some custom environment workouts where I start running on the road and reach to track doing some speed works there in a single session.

When I do it as a run activity, GPS is not always perfect and I see some distance/location related problems in my workout summary. For speed session intervals those really affect the paces I train which is not good. Track run would eliminate this problem but as I don't start on track rather I created some custom multi-sport activity to reflect my workout routine (manual switch to second activity type when I start running on track). However, when I want to perform a specific workout in this routine it is not possible to select the workout either from newly created activity's menu or from calendar itself performing workout as multi-sport activity.

As I understand same problem persists duathlon or triathlon kind of multi-sport types as well. Is this a limitation with Garmin or I miss something here?

  • Create the workout as a run workout, include one step with a manual lap press before you start your track session, this way you can control when it will start auto laping on the track according to your workout steps.
    Start the whole activity as a track workout, it will work. Be aware that it will auto lock on the track if you get close enough. If your preferred track allows it, approach it at 90 degrees on a straight for the nicest recording. 
    This will not help with the question about multisport activities, but it will solve your problem.
