garmin fenix 8 map lag

I purchased the Fenix 8 Amoled 51 mm and i noticed a very tterrible lag when i scroll map. It happen with any map with global too

is it there a chance that it will be correccted in nexts updates or i should give back the watch

a little speed increse too would make product accettable

There might be small improvements via software updates, but this is primarily a hardware problem: The watch uses the same (slow) CPU as the Fenix 7.

Fenix 8 devices have the same CPU with Fenix 7 series. These processors are great upgrade compared to previous processors without GPU. In my experience there is no map rendering difference with my Fenix…

Do you know if the 8 solar has the same lag or is more acceptable ?

Less than a second or max a second could be acceptable if you need to find a place .

The processor is old. You can try to turn off details, no shadow, always north and so on. It is strange the maps are struggeling with the same tasks as mye 6 pro and 7 did.

Hi, yes this could help, but it's not magic.

the resolution of MIP screen is lower than AMOLED device. But it depends on Garmin implementation and as said by other this SoC introduce in 2021 is now quite limited without extreme code tuning.

Would not have bought this watch if I had knew it was the same old processor (4 years old?). Strange reviewers are not talking about this more. I had not the imagination that it was possible to have the same old processor in a new watch with a premium price, when I bought it, and even slower than my old fenix 7 with a mip display.

This has been an issue since when I got my Epix 2 non-pro 3 years ago. Its painfully slow. But a million times worse if you use Outdoor Maps+ on the watch. Unusable for those. In fact garmin gave me a refund I just couldn't use them. Same slowness on my F8 amoled. I don't think this is something that can be dramatically improved. As others have said, it's a hardware limitation. Battery life over speed.

Thank you to all people . You were very kind . I don't know if they could with firmware to " overclock "bit the processor . But I don't think it will be possible.

I'm searching an easy basic map with all cities and little towns and villages too, with most important roads but with most of villages . Basic or Global Garmin map is more fluid but it has not all the villages names . I'd be happy with only points ( in correct position) where there is a village or town and only few roads . I'd like to use this map as a index to search and after once found the place I could use a Topo map (I use open MTB maps )

Do you know if there this type or similar map ?

I live in Italy and could be useful an Italy "index map " .

Global Garmin map is good but doesn't contain all towns and villages at medium resolution .

If actually got the battery life they advertised I'd gladly take a hit on that to over clock it for certain things
