Fenix 8 System Software - 10.23

Hello guys,

Does anyone have the 10.23 software?
Without going into details, briefly, I had a previous Fenix 8 51mm AMOLED watch, which I upgraded to the current version 12.35 immediately after purchase. After the update the watch rebooted itself always during activities. While running, walking, any activity which uses maps. Of course I reset it, updated the maps on Garmin Express, it didn't have a connect IQ watchface, tried everything. Finally I downgraded to the oldest software I could find (backdating), which was 11.64, but it restarted with that too.

Replaced the watch under warranty, now I have a new watch with the original factory 10.23 software and everything works without any errors. If I start updating again to the latest software and it reboots again, I would revert to that version. But unfortunately I cannot find the backdate file for it.

I am not asking for any proposals to solve the reboot crash.

    Just turn off auto-update of the software on the watch/GMC app/Garmin Express.  Then you won't get the newest.

    I similarly upgraded to 12.xx after purchase and the 12.xx beta program as well. I have not had any crashes though. I’ve subsequently used the 13.xx series. I have identified some minor bugs but no crashes ever. 

    Activities I have used: Run, Trail Run, Walk, HIIT, Strength, Elliptical. 

    I also have been using the Moonmaster and Astromaster faces and Amazon Music which are all CIQ. 

    All ok. 

    If you are having a lot of crashing with similar activities then maybe it is a hardware problem rather than software.

    As I said I tried everything. The beta software as well. It rebooted always. I was on 13.xx beta.

    I know you want a backup plan if this happens again.

    Not sure where to get the version you are looking for.

    I would recommend that you update the firmware from Garmin Express as well. Also, I would not carry forward any settings or sensors from prior watches (if you have one).

    Charge your watch to 100% before you do any updates.

    I did all of the above (might be overkill) and I have had zero problems. I don't have a lot of sensors but, I also add them one at a time and see if there is any detrimental effect on the watch over a couple of days and then add another sensor.

    I am looking for someone who has several versions of softwares saved. I know how to save them, but it can only save the next one when update is in process. Not the previous one. For both fenix 7 and fenix 6, I found someone here on the forum who has all software versions. I thought maybe there is someone who has for fenix 8 too.

    10.23 should be one of the very early version, and when release, most of the information i found deal with 11.xx

    Then it will be very difficult if not impossible to find this release. I start collecting theml since 11.64, but no source before that.

    beware of Garmin Express, even with no Auto-Update, the system file will be pushed on your device, so if you restart/shutoff the watch ... If you connect it to your computer then verify that no update file is presente under /Garmin.

    regarding your issue, the fact that 2 watch encounter the same behavior with different System version should be generated by some specific contant (CIQ) or settings. Maybe you should try from scratch (reset to factory) if not already try, then apply your content or settings until finding the root cause.

    Yes, I suspected something like this answer, based on the garminrumours chart: Fenix 8 Software Updates. The very first release there is 11.59, and as I wrote earlier I found also the 11.64, which is in the post of gaijin here: F8 AMOLED 47 and 51 - 1164 - sw backdate

    Now I see in the changelog of the latest beta SW 13.14, "Fixed crash on map search results.". I don't know exactly what that means, but maybe that's what caused my reboots.

    i found more version, but only archive those that are "stable".
