Always on display disabled

I am having same issue. I just bought my watch about two weeks ago and the “Always on display” setting is greyed out and I cannot enable it.

Bought this watch two days ago and having same problem. Battery saver is not enabled. Is there an issue with this watch?  How can I return to "always on"?

My Forerunner 970 just started doing the same thing. It’s been enabled for months but now it’s greyed out and I don’t know why.

Edit: Figured out why. The “Always On” had accidentally been turned off on the watch itself and it apparently overrides the app. Seems like they should show the same thing and you can turn it on or off from either one.

I’m having this same problem out of the blue on a Forerunner 970. It’s been enabled for months and now the setting is greyed out for no apparent reason. Battery saver is not enabled.
