Fenix 8 connection issues via Bluetooth and ANT+

I’m trying to connect my new Fenix 8 watch to my under-desk treadmill to track my steps, as this treadmill is very accurate (Egofit Walker Pro). However, even with an ANT+ connection, my watch cannot find the device. Interestingly, my phone can find and connect to the treadmill without issues. I want to connect the treadmill directly to my watch to match the treadmill's step and elevation counts with my heart rate. I prefer not to use Zwift since it is primarily designed for running, and the avatar doesn’t move at a walking pace. I used the FitShow app, but it doesn't send complete information to my Garmin Connect, Strava, or Apple Health app. I just bought the Fenix 8, and I would prefer not to spend more on an additional heart rate monitor, especially since the Fenix 8 has heart rate broadcasting capabilities.

1) Why won't the Fenix 8 connect to the treadmill via Bluetooth or even through a Garmin brand ANT+ USB connection?
2) What other apps can I use to track steps, elevation, and heart rate?
