Titanium vs. Steel

Hi, does anybody have both models (Steel / Gorilla Glass vs. Titanium / Sapphire) available for a direct comparison?

My current understanding is this, am i right? Any opinion?

  • pro Steel:
    • harder bezel material
    • less reflections (Gorilla Glass)
  • pro Titanium:
    • lighter (ca. 10g less for 47mm model?)
    • harder glass material (Sapphire)
  • Nope I don't have both but I was sitting on the fence between those models and was worried about the more reflective Sapphire glass.
Now as I got the Sapphire Titanium I can tell that at least for me the reflection is no issue at all and I even never thought about it since.
I wanted to be on the safe side when it comes to scratch protection and you can read a lot about Sapphire users not having any marks on their long used watches. However I also not read much about Gorilla glass users which bang a new scratch in their watch on a regular basis.

At least I can tell you that you don't need to be worried about the reflections... that it not that bad. (my humble opinion)

  • Before - FR265 amoled with Gorilla Glass - big scratch on 1st day of having it, on bike unusable anyway baceause of reflections, on my hand with no problem

Now - F8 amoled with Sapphire - more than three months of using with many bumps and no single scratch, but Titanium bezel already have one significant dent. Glass is a bit more reflective, but I don't have any problem with reading display at all. I would definitely take Sapphire again.

  • Had the 7x sapphire since it was released and beat the crap out of it with multiple scratches on the body where the black came off, but the sapphire screen does not have a scratch.  Have the Fenix 8 sapphire solar now.
