Varia VIsion compatibility

Compatibility with the legacy in-Eye Display Varia Vision, initially dropped with the Femix 7 series, was restored there eventually (v14.36)

Has anybody successfully paired their Varia Vision with a Fenix 8? Thanks.

i did the non-beta stock OTA update for the F8 today (12.22) and it does indeed work. For the record.

Agreed this is an impressive case of legacy loyalty on Garmins part, they did break the heart of many…

It wasn’t working correctly for a long time for my F8xA, always connection issues and so I didn’t try it again. Just tried it now: F8xA connects and connection seems to be stable at the moment, but tried it only on my sofa.

But can’t judge if it is staying/working stable now. I am really surprised that Varia Vision is still available for the F8 series, because Garmin discontinued it awhile ago.

hi Volker, what Software are you running? just got the F8 43 Amoled that worked out of the box with the Display (10.23 or so), but the Fenix 8 requires an update and since I see no rollback/backup-restore function implemented, I am weary about losing the Vision connectivity when I do update. Is your F8 up to date and still working with the Vision? Thanks!

Agreed this is an impressive case of legacy loyalty on Garmins part, they did break the heart of many Display aficionados when they broke compatibility a few years ago, I'm guessing it was a case of meeting the outcry paired with easy fix after all, although it appeared to take some doing during the lifecycle of the Fenix 7. By the way, do the Edge post 40 series work with the Varia Display again?

No! I also find it very surprising that the Edge X40 series is no longer compatible and they have added it back to the F8 series. Garmin logic! There are different teams working on the Edge : wearable software- one seems still to like it, the other not...
