Watchface doesn't go back to normal after sleep mode is turned off

Device: Fenix 8 51mm Solar

FW: 12.22

Sleep watchface is displayed with the start of sleep schedule and in the morning it automatically returns back to normal watchface when the sleep schedule ends as expected.

Yesterday, before my sleep schedule started, I enabled battery saver setting during sleep which is supposed to turn off some features to save battery. Battery saver mode is enabled by default when my sleep schedule started, again as expected. In the morning when my sleep schedule ended, battery saver mode is disabled automatically, again as expected. The problem is that the watchface did not change from sleep watchface to regular watchface. I had to go to controls and enable the battery saver first then disabled it again to see my regular watch face.

I realized this is not related to sleep schedule. When I manually enable sleep mode via controls menu, battery saver is enabled automatically as expected. Then, I disable the sleep mode manually and the battery saver mode is disabled automatically as expected but again the sleep watchface stayed on.

To sum up, if battery saver mode is enabled during sleep mode, turning off sleep mode either manually or automatically doesn't let the watch go back to its regular watchface. It stays in the sleep watchface unless you manually enable and disable battery saver mode.

Here is the video of the problem that I captured;

  • Yep same here - another bug that drives me mad. F8 47mm AMOLED.

  • That's odd.  Doesn't happen like that on my watch.  I suspect there is a setting you have changed that's is affecting the display.

    I saw 'phone connected' when you turned off sleep mode.  That might be a clue, as I don't get that message.

  • It's because the battery saver is enabled with the sleep mode and battery saver mode disables bluetooth connection to phone. When I disable sleep mode, it also disables the battery saver mode which enables bluetooth connection.

  • I actually do know why this happens. Since both sleep and battery saver modes modify the watchface (sleep mode enabled sleep mode watchface and battery saver mode enables battery saver watchface), the watch can't go back to the regular watchface when sleep mode is disabled along with the battery saver mode. It's stuck with the battery saver watchface.

    My temporary workaround is to disable sleep mode watchface as battery saver watchface already kicks in with the sleep mode. This way I see the battery saver watchface while in sleep mode and when it's disabled, the watchface changes from battery saver watchface to regular watchface.

    Regardless, this is still a bug that should be addressed at some point.
