I have been using the Fenix 8 51mm Solar for about 2 months now and it's been working great for me. Unlike others I haven't had any battery drain issues. My battery life is about the same as my previous Tactix 7 Pro. However, I have noticed a strange battery meter glitch on my watch faces (I've tried the "Portal" and "Endurance" faces from Garmin) where the actual battery meter shows 0% in the shaded portion instead of the correct battery level. As best I can tell it is a software glitch where the watch face takes a "snapshot" of the various metrics on the watch face to save battery life and then shows that snapshot till the next update/refresh. So I'll look at my watch face and all the data is correct including time, except the battery meter icon shows completely unshaded...then if the time updates suddenly the battery icon will shade to full or whatever the battery level is = correct. Then, it'll resume back to the unshaded battery icon within a few seconds to a minute depending on what the watch is doing. Oddly, on the same watch face at the same time, the "arc" or "circle/ring" that goes around the battery data area will show the correct battery life whether 0% or 100% or anywhere between...it's only the icon/guage with the shading on the watch face that shows incorrect battery level. And, if I swipe up from the bottom to show glances, the battery icon there (in color) shows the correct shaded portion. And if I force wake it up by doing something like swiping on screen or pressing a button, then the icon corrects itself. So as best i can tell it is only on the watch face where it shows the empty battery icon, everywhere else seems to show the correct level. It's as if the software is glitching and taking a snapshot of an empty battery icon instead of the correct level and displaying an erroneous battery icon till it refreshes and then it shows correct. I can't seem to find anyone else with this glitch...not sure if it's due to low take rate on Solar model or what.
