A friend has a Fenix 8 and the screen went to black yesterday. 3 seconds push of top left button did nothing. He set it on charge for a while. The third time he tried that button, it turned on.
Why did it crash?
Unfortunately, I can think of a possibility, which is why I'm asking on the forum instead of support, for now.
I asked if he'd synced it recently. He said no, it's on Wi-Fi here. Which means his wife configured it for their wifi network after they got there. And he's forgotten or ignored my instruction that he needs to manually sync morning and night. Bluetooth is off. So it could have been left without sync for weeks.
Two questions:
1) Does this model sync when it's set on charge?
2) Is it possible it crashed because of full storage? Because if so, turning itself off is a way to empty itself of stress/HR/potentially other metrics.
He does not start activities either, only autostart detection. My 255s Music syncs via WiFi by itself after I save an activity, but since he doesn't even start an activity, that won't happen either.
If I'd known he would not actually use the watch except as a dumb watch, I would not have recommended he buy it.
