Fenix 8 solar

Hi all, I have just upgrade to the fenix 8 solar from the 7x solar (both 51mm)

with the 8 when covering the screen whilst in a menu it does not return to the watch face, like it does on the 7?

I’ve tried a brief cover, long cover, touching the screen with my palm and nothing works? Touch in enabled and that’s working fine, is there something I am missing as I can not find a work around in the manual nor online, any help would be appreciated

Both AMOLED and MIP work for me and always worked on all software versions. Release and betas.

I have an issue with my AMOLED where backlight doesn’t increase brightness (doesn’t go in high power) with gesture only in Scuba and Apnea activity.
my guess is that sometimes some settings get “stuck” in a watch and full reset is required. Just a guess.

Yes, settings reset is very effective, but we still haven’t backup function on F8….‍♂️

Just an update.
have logged a ticket with GArmin support as seen multiple comments/forums where people have this issue.
They have tried to blame it on the fact I have used a screen proctector (the same I used for 2 years on the7X solar without the same issue) and pointed me to the manual implying I could have invalidated the warranty??
Following me sending them a couple of videos, and the log reportt via Garmin Express, I was told the watch face had gunk on it?? This was Filmed after being at work in an office, and I had cleaned the screen prior to this also???
Well again the 7x worked perfectly fine after a mountain bike session, and the touch on the 8 works fine when it has a simialr apearance, but the palm to watch face feature still does not work like it does on the 7X ??
They have now passed this to their engineering team to look into further
for ref- I have reset the watch to a new state twice and updated to the latest OS 12.22 from memory, and reset again, but still no luck with this feature working.
Its a minor inconvenience, but is so much better than pressing the back button multiple times to return to the watch face

Sounds like you're not on the latest firmware? This issue was inc in a release to fix this. If you are on the current firmware, for sure call garmin support and they can walk you through a possible solution.

Hi have updated to the latest firmware 12.22 (just checked) as per their email request, but still the same outcome
