Garmin Fenix 8 Amoled 51mm and Garmin Connect on iOS 18.1: pairing issue

Hi, I'm trying to connect my new Garmin Fenix 8 51mm Amoled to my iPhone.

It seems like there are some pairing and connection issues: when I start the pairing procedure, it finds the watch, I do select it on Garmin for pairing, the I see the code number on my Fenix ok which I do confirm on Garmin Connect, then I do confirm I want to receive notifications from my Fenix, finally the watch starts syncing while Garmin Connect app shows a progress bar for about 10 seconds and the it shows an error screen stating that it cannot pair (I cannot remember the exact message tbh) with a button saying "Retry".

Even if I click on Retry button Garmin Connect app show the progress bar for a few seconds more, then again the same error screen. And there it goes every time I do press again on Retry.

My Fenix 8 phone screen says "waiting" while looking for it on my iPhone bluetooth settings I do see my Fenix 8 is paired and connected for what concerns bluetooth itself, but not for Garmin Connect!

What's going on here? Is there any known issue? I'm a long time Garmin user and never had such issues with Garmin Connect on iOS.

My phone is an iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOs 18.1 and my Garmin Fenix 8 51mm Amoled Sapphire is using firmware version 11.90
