I am surprised that the Fenix 8 has only dive vibration alerts/alarms (both Descent Mk and G1 series have dive audible + vibe alarms), as in my opinion the dive alarms may be potentially critical for the diver’s safety.
In addition to this, I believe (F8 users may confirm) that the F8, like previous versions of Fenix, does not have the option to adjust the strength of the vibration. I find this very odd considering that this very useful option is instead implemented in the Venu series.
Questions for divers using the Fenix 8:
- Have you ever missed an alert/alarm while diving/freediving due to weak vibe?
- Have you ever used the Fenix 8 over a wetsuit? How are the vibes in this situation? My concern is that the wetsuit thickness might significantly reduce the perception of the vibe alarms.
I am an MIP display lover, and I would like to upgrade to a Fenix 8 Solar mainly because the dive capabilities, but the lack of audible dive alerts, in addition to other F8 limitations, make me postpone the purchase, waiting to see what the F8 Pro will offer next year … or, maybe, waiting for an Mk3i Solar ?? :))
