Respiration rate in activity

Good day to you!

May I ask why respiration is not visible in an activity data field ?

Because it is perfectly visible in glance view, so teh device indeed capable to measure it.

Many thanks for your fed back in advance!

  • Hello Former Member

Respiration Rate is available to set as a data field for most activity apps. You can use these steps to set this.

    1. Hold the Middle left button
    2. Select Water Settings
    3. Select Activities
    4. Select the desired Activity app
    5. Select the Activity Settings
    6. Select Data Screens
    7. Select the data page you wish to add this to
    8. Select the Data fields
    9. Navigate to the data field you want to change to Respiration Rate
    10. Scroll to and select Other Fields
    11. Scroll to and select Respiration Rate
    12. Then exit out of the activity
  • Thank you! But you missunderstood me. What I was trying to say, that Data field added in the way you described do not show any other valur than zero during activity. So I know how to add this data field, but eg during a hike its simply laways show 0.

  • Hello, thank you for the clarification. I am sorry to hear the respiration rate data field is not working. For this, I have some additional questions.

    • Is the watch's wrist HR working as expected? You will need either wrist HR or a Garmin HR chest strap. such as HRM Pro Plus.
    • Is this an issue will a specific activity, or all?
    • Have you tried removing the Respiration data field and readding it? You may also try resetting the activity app by removing this app, and readding it, using Garmin Express.
    • Since this started, have you tried a hard reset? For this, hold the Light button until the watch shuts off, as opposed to selecting power off. Then power this on again.

If this continues, I would recommend contacting Garmin Product Support.

  • I think respiration rate only works for Yoga and Breathwork activity. I tried on cycling, walking and it doesn't shows any respiration data. When I use a Wahoo TickFitR HRM it works on those activity.

  • "An HRM-TriTm, HRM-RunTm, HRM-ProTm, HRM-ProTm Plus, or HRM-DualTm strap is required for all activity types with the exception of Breathwork or Yoga activity types. Activity movement impacts the ability to read heart rate variability using the optical heart rate sensor resulting in inaccurate respiration rate readings. Additionally, respiration is not available for swim activity profiles and the HRM-SwimTm heart rate strap will not provide Respiration."
