Navigation turn-by-turn still not working

With 11.89 turn-by-turn navigation is still not working. When importing a .gpx file as course and select it in running activity, you will see the course on the map, however there is no vibration or voice alert when I need to make turns. It does tell me when I'm off-course and when a lap has passed. I'm forced to use Komoot which does have this working correctly, but I rather not... Sad that it has to take this long to fix.

Perhaps you haven’t enabled the tbt setting for the course on the watch? It’s just an idea. The setting is buried and easy to overlook (and who is searching/expecting it there?).

The blue arrow on the map screen is far too high and Garmin needs to address this. The map route shows you more of where you have been then where you're going. I already know where I have been so it reduces…

I confirm, I had the exact same issue today.

But when I create a course with Garmin connect, turn by turn navigation works.

Interesting. I didn't try that. However, it would be nice if they will fix this, since I don't always make routes using Garmin Connect.

Btw, if you let the Garmin Watch make a Round-Trip Route, it will also work.

So, was the GPX file not created in Garmin Connect created with Turn by Turn directions?

In my case, the gpx was an export from zepplife (Xiaomi band application), imported in Garmin connect web.

In Garmin connect web, I activated directions notification, saved and exported to my watch. And no turn by turn notifications during my run.

To be fair the whole navigation is a total mess at the moment.

Last time I created a dynamic course on my watch (with course re-computatio when losing the original course) and it ended up with two reboots.

Today with my failed gpx navigation, I decided to cancel it and tried "navigate to start point". It computed something, no turn by turn navigation. And I lost track at a moment and the watch never computed a new track.

Soooo.... Totally unreliable and I would rely on it to save my bum if needed.

Correct, it was created using Komoot which also had turn-by-turn navigation. I exported the gpx file and imported this in Garmin Connect.

I can confirm the same. Not working with any GPX file imported, whether CalTopo, AllTrails, etc.

It might be fixed in the new beta version 12.09:

Improved Support for Side-Loaded Maps

Still need to test this tomorow.
