Auto switch audio output from watch to headphones

Is there a way to auto switch the audio output from watch to headphones when they are connected? So what I want is:

- bluetooth earbuds connected: use them

- no bt earbuds: use watch speaker (even when phone is around)

As I understand current options, "watch" will always play on the watch regardless of earbuds, "connected devices" won't use the watch speaker when I don't have my earbuds. Is this really how garmin works? It feels like 90s tech.

  • I fully support this remark / suggestion! It's really annoying to manually switch to "watch" when I don't have mon earbuds.

  • Absolutly, have the same requirement!

    But other question: You can set the config to use connected devices for audio output, so earbuds should be used or not? What‘s annoying is, that also connected phone with GC is used as audio output device. Do anybody know how to avoid this (on an iOS)?

  • Those settings are the apparent UI design flaw. Looks like done by dev who never did the actual workout using any kind of earbuds connected to the watch and just drew the boundary based on BT connection status instead of usability.

    Those options should be replaced with something more sensible. Like:

    Audio output:

    * phone

    * watch (or BT audio capable device connected to it directly).
