Question regarding Fenix 8 Carbon Gray DLC Titanium 51MM, gray finish rubbing off?

Does the finish come off easily? I have seen older watches and the finish ends up looking like crap....is there a wrap of something that would protect the finish? Does the finish on the silver titanium hold up better? I have a Fenix 7, silver and its scratched, but the finish isnt rubbed away.

  • I have 47mm Carbon Gray DLC Titanium for almost a month and so far it's looking good as new - but I avoided any major bumps. I gave my old DLC F6 to a friend and that one definitely shows wear around the edge of the bezel where the silver is showing up. But it's not super bad and it's only the edge.

I also have a silver titanium Epix 2 and that shows plenty of scratches after 2 years.

This confirms what I've read elsewhere. There's no coating on silver titanium and titanium is soft, so it will scratch relatively easily. But scratches on the silver are not that visible, you can probably buff them if they really bother you and a lot of people, including me, think they just add to the character of the watch.

DLC is much harder to scratch, but if you manage to scratch it (and you probably will), the scratches look worse, because the silver titanium underneath will shine through.
