I’m a multisport guy, outdoor lover and scuba diver, but I do not buy the Fenix 8 (even if all issues users report are fixed)

Fenix 8 is close to my ideal watch, but I will not get for the following scuba diving limitations (just my personal perspective). Sharing my thoughts just to check if other Garmin users have the  same opinions.

  • Max operating depth 40m. Just at the limit of recreational diving. Not enough. Recreational deep divers may need a max o.d. of 60m (like Suunto Ocean) as a minimum, or 100m (like Descent G1) in case extraordinary circumferences require diving deeper than 40m (e.g. rescuing a buddy) or decide to progress to technical diving.
  • Only vibration alerts/alarms. Not enough. Need the audible alerts as well, like I had on all my dive computers.

I do not get the Descent MK3 because I love outdoors and long trekking in sunny conditions, so I want MIP solar display (I don’t like OLED, although it may be better  than MIP backlight during scuba diving).

I do not get the Descent G1 solar because need large display, especially in deep diving.

My ideal watch:

  • Enduro 3, with depth sensor and max operating depth 60m or 100m + audible diving alerts/alarms, or
  • Fenix 8 (Pro?) Solar 51mm with max operating depth 60m or 100m, audible diving alarms/alerts (speaker/mic not necessary for me), or
  • Descent MK3 51mm with MIP Solar display
