  • Read about it being broken and finally observed it today. Got home and now downloading the update. We'll see.

  • ECG is disabled. I posted this elsewhere but:

That is just plain stupid. AFIB is more prevalent among athletes and an insidious killer. No big deal if one does not mind having a stroke. All the other fitness watch competitors have it for that very good reason. It is nice to know how well you perform but more importantly it is more important to know what might take you out for good. In short, AFIB involves the involuntary quivering of your upper left ventricle which stagnates blood flow causing your blood to clot, and sending the clots on up to brain, Then, bad things happen. Parts of your brain die.

I once had it but underwent a gee whiz procedure to disrupt it. I first discovered it after getting some wonky heart rate readings on a lifecycle. The local ER was down the street, my honey drove me there, and as I walked through the door some local firefighters looked at me and put me down on a gurney. Other than passing out a couple of times skiing, I had not a clue.

For me it took several years of scientific advancement, a move from the mountains of Lake Tahoe, to doctor rich North Carolina. Finally, after a visit to an OR that looked like the bridge of a spaceship they slipped a catheter up my groin with liquid nitrogen, punched through to my upper left ventricle, and froze some tissue around a pulmonary blood vessel.

I have not had a blip since, nor a life destroying stroke.

As a company promoting fitness and a life, one would think the ECG facility would be a priority.

  • Stay on official releases and you will never be without the ECG or Dive functionality.  The official Garmin post has this information up top and in bold.
