Disappointing Discovery With Fenix 8 Hardware

Has anyone else noticed that the Fenix 8 is just a Descent MK3 hardware design with Fenix software?! I was a bit disappointed with the discovery as paying $2000+ dollars for hardware that’s over a year old in design language and is taken from another product line is a bit of a bummer. Not to mention all the current software issues we are all getting, I would have to say this was the worst release in the history of Garmin wearables and may push me over to a competitor like Coros or Suunto after 10+ years with Garmin.

  • I stand by my initial post that the design of both watches is very similar

Then don't buy it. I suggest an Apple watch. Pick one and compare the designs of the different generations;)

    You're confusing me.

At the beginning you speak of "identical" and later of "similar".

  • I have one, the first Apple Watch Ultra and the reason for not upgrading is the fact that the subsequent 2 models after mine are exactly the same (latest one being black) so Apple and Samsung and all of them are guilty of the same thing, which is releasing incremental updates and charging premium prices for them.

  • Agree to disagree my friend. I have my opinion and you have yours and they are not the same. Thanks for your input

There you go. Instead of upgrading your Apple watch, you bought a Fenix 8. Then Garmin has obviously done everything right.
And if you didn't like the look of it, you obviously wouldn't have bought it.

    my friend.

By the way. I don't know you. So please don't call me friend.

  • I think there is a lot of ppl on this forum right now that would disagree with the Garmin has done everything right part lol that’s why we are all in here, because for one reason or another we have certain issues with this release, but sure, far be it from me to get in the way of such a die hard fanboy.

I was merely being polite when I said my friend, that’s all, it wasn’t meant to be taken literally but if if someone being polite offends you then that’s a you problem.

If you buy a watch whose design you knew when you bought it and then complain about the design afterwards, you've done something wrong. Not Garmin.

    All the best !

  • Joy I actually only noticed the similarities between the 2 lines when a friend pointed them out to me, I wasn't really familiar with the latest MK3 and so it was too late as I had already purchased it, had I not, maybe I wouldn’t have at all, especially now knowing all the software issues that have come with it, I’m sure they’ll get fixed eventually but that’s not the point, like most people on here would agree we don’t buy $2000 products to be beta testers of buggy software. Anyway it is what it is, again thanks for your input, it’s been an amusing exchange.
