Hello dukeskd
I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. It is true that not all CIQ faces or Face It watch faces will have a low power (timeout) face. This means that for many of these, when the watch…
Even with the Always on display enabled, and wearing the watch, the display will eventually timeout and show a black screen. This is to avoid burn. However the minimized dimmed display watch face allows…
I see. so AOD is not "true" AOD mode. That clears it up.
@Garmin-Laurie more information for you. It looks like the AOD turns off/display turns off after notifications consistently about 80% of the time. Hope this helps in diagnosing the bug.
I am having a similar issue after the 11.64 update and while using the Fenix 8 with the native watch face; when a gesture is made just parts of the face appears, besides that the watch is again slow and laggy, just like when I first took it out of the box. Even after all the issues I am having I am still happy with the functions and readability of my Fenix 8. I hope techs can gradually fix all the things that are appearing.
Looks like 11.81 beta is out and it could fix it. Concrete item from the changelog:
Improved Always-On Watch Face Brightness (AMOLED).

This addressing a concern where the watch face would become too dimly lit, when timed out in low ambient light conditions. So with this change the watch face will still eventually turn off entirely to prevent burn in.
Hi Garmin-Laurie, my display turns off after receiving notifications like from Slack or whatsapp. Maybe that will help your team diagnose the issue. This is not related to the built-in protection feature FYI, I know the difference.
