Hello dukeskd
I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. It is true that not all CIQ faces or Face It watch faces will have a low power (timeout) face. This means that for many of these, when the watch…
Even with the Always on display enabled, and wearing the watch, the display will eventually timeout and show a black screen. This is to avoid burn. However the minimized dimmed display watch face allows…
I see. so AOD is not "true" AOD mode. That clears it up.
@Garmin-Laurie more information for you. It looks like the AOD turns off/display turns off after notifications consistently about 80% of the time. Hope this helps in diagnosing the bug.
Is it a native watchface or a third-party Connect IQ watchface?
Connect IQ watchfaces can go black in AOD if they happen to violate certain burn-in protection rules.
Its Victus by TitanicTurtle. 50% AOD brightness to protect burn in is what I selected in the settings. No issues prior to this latest update.
You should probably contact the app developer in that case.
Even if Garmin has changed the behavior here, either the dev will have to change their app, or they'll have to file a CIQ bug report and hope that it gets changed back.

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. It is true that not all CIQ faces or Face It watch faces will have a low power (timeout) face. This means that for many of these, when the watch face times out you will see a black screen. It is a goal to eventually have a low power function behavior consistent to all, or at least most watch faces. But for the time being, if you are having this issue, we would recommend using a preloaded watch face.
Just purchased a fenix 8, can't change the watch face, I tap apply & it doesn't update to selected watch face, any ideas?
Thank you Garmin-Laurie. However this behavior is very inconsistent, sometimes it goes dark after Sleep Mode has finished or an activity and other times it doesn't. When I re-enable AOD from on -> off -> on, it seems to works. This seems like a bug to me even if I am using a custom watchface.
Hi, did you solved this? I had the same "problem", but beause iam new and did not know. The clock were in night mode and thats why it did not change when "applied".
Nope. Watch screen turns black or shuts off randomly through out the day.
