Phone assistant launches Bixby instead of Google assistant

Alas, that's more a problem created by Samsung than Garmin. I tried to leave bixby a while ago, but I'm not yet free. However, there's a message when you leave bixby that says that it might take a week or so. Unfortunately, it's a lie: it's a virus that cannot be killed!

I had the same problem with the Galaxy S24.

Then I solved it this way: Go to Settings/Applications, top by choosing default apps, selecting it and replacing Bixby with Google Assistant. I'll put pictures of you to understand better

This way, with the voice commands of the Fenix8, you'll use Google instead of Bixby. Let me know if you can. .(Excuse my English) . 

Thanks for the advice. In fact I had already done that because I needed it for my motorcycle bluetooth phone setup. I don't have my fenix 8, yet. I'll get it tomorrow and, hopefully, it works

Same here unfortunately. I had already selected Google as my digital assistant. 

You've got to a little patient though. It takes more than a week for Bixby to "surrender". It'll never give up, but it will subside. Hang in there!

There are clear methods to change this in the fenix 8 manual without the need to wait to leave bixby. See below:

Yeah I have seen that. My phone does not have a Clear Defaults option. So I am out of luck I guess

I've found a way (that works) to fix this.  Go (on the phone) into Bixby app info.  Disable Bixby.

Now Google Assistant launches when Phone Assistant is used.  
Next, you have to use the phone volume buttons to increase the volume on the watch while Google Assistant is talking.

All is well now.

Now I just have to figure out how to get assistant to use my contacts without unlocking the phone.  I have set all the assistant options that I think I need to, but it just answers, "Sure, you just need to unlock your phone" when I ask it to send a text to one of my contacts.
