Could the bloody app please stop bothering me about the ECG app set up when it is not actually available where I am? Thank you.
Or maybe, you could finally make it available in Europe too...it has been long overdue

Yes, there is, just costs you some bucks.
Google is your friend
Scroll down past the paid options and there is a free one for iPhone apparently (I'm android so can't try it)
Thanks, but my post was really meant for Garmin. I tried a few ways to get the ECG app working on my previous Epix Pro watch, but I gave up. All I want now is for Garmin to stop bothering me about activating something which cannot be activated. Until they manage to make it work in Europe too.
If you follow the steps in the YouTube video, it will work in less than 5 minutes (on Android). Of course it is strange that ECG does not yet work in Europe. But this is one of the reasons why I left Apple, without 3rd party apps you are nowhere these days. And if you need these apps, you often have to pay for the app if you use an Apple product.
Pretty sure it's a legal issue. The u.s. certification for the ECG isn't valid in EMEA/APAC so it can't be offered for that purpose as a result. Vaguely the same as Pixel Phones having a thermometer built in but it's not certified for use on people.
Temporarily using a VPN on your phone so your exit NAT is a U.S. IP will flag your GCM as being in the U.S. where you can then set up ECG and Garmin isn't rechecking once you've been tagged as legal to have ECG. It's about the same as those age verification pages "When were you born, 1908? Sure thing, whatever you say old man".
That it prompts for set up when you're not in the U.S. is a valid problem though.
