I love this watch, honestly.

Despite all its software flaws, I loved the fenix 8. Due to its amazingly complex functionality, some key elements do not work as they should, but it is there with me during long runs, there are two of us, it brings the data, helps and encourages. Beautiful, nice to look at.
My wife called me today while running, it was the first time I tried the phone call live, it worked smoothly, we could hear each other. The clock didn't freeze, it didn't restart, it just did its job. Finally, I felt again that I was not holding a fashion item, but a tool.
I'm probably lucky that the data provided seems flawless, the watch buttons work great, the screen is perfect, everything works as expected.
When the fixes finally arrive, it will only get better. I did not regret replacing the Epix gen2.

  • not really the same feeling here.

Call from the watch ? not really relevant for me, and it crash twice over 3 tests.

What extra feature do I have that I don't have on the 7x ? simply none.

What feature do I loss ? A lot, navigation is fully broken (ETA, turn by turn), many crashes.

    this for a nice 1000+k ? seriously ? for just a screen ?

No, it's not where it should be, it's a scam for now.

Was again outside for a 30k with about 2000D+, and the navigation is a joke, not mentioning the battery drain, lack of alerts, it was a PURE pain.

I will get back to my 7x, that can do everything better so far.

This should be illegal to sell unfinished products, we paid for it NOW, and we don't have it, but they have our money.

Yes, this is rant, but I don't care about extra geeky features, I need a tool watch for daily basis, and it's just broken for now, and by looking to the forum, we are more very disappointed users than happy ones. About how the watch will be in 3 months does not matter, it matter how it is when we bought it. Reviewer got better builds, with more functioning features, and that's purely non acceptable from an ethic point of view.

About the press release ? let me know when the recalculation feature is, when the route calculation end most of the time by : no routable bla bah bla, it was functioning on the 7x not that far in the past with the same maps...

It's not faster, it's not anything except more broken now..

  • You're right, the navigation is very lacking in navigation, but I know it's coming soon. My watch doesn't freeze, I set the usual ones on the data screens, and it measured them accurately. I know that some functions restart the watch, but somehow I don't use them, I haven't used them before. The menu system is a little faster, even though the hardware is exactly the same.
I am a software developer, and I know for a fact that a new system is full of error possibilities. I am also aware that a finished product is not like that. But what the watch knows, it knows reliably. I'm flexible, I understood the new menu system, it's very simple. I'm really looking forward to the fixes, but this is it, it will get better.
In addition to all this, I also agree with all the outraged users of the forum.

  • The battery drain is also normal for me, 13% per day with always on display, this includes 2 hours of running with satiq. Pressing the buttons is also 10/10 fine. I tried the problems written in the forum, mostly they appear for me, but not all.

  • Well, the hardware platform indeed is not new, so the base functionality would most likely not be written from scratch. In my opinion, as a dev yourself - I'm in the same boat, by the way - this is nothing that should have been delivered for a product release! I don't know your view on this subject, but well-developed software should not behave like this. If the process was reasonably professional, then there wouldn't be so many regression errors across releases and management would never have made this available to the public. But... Well, it's also a cultural issue... It's simply unforgivable

  • Ditto here, awesome watch that will only get better

  • Yep despite some bugs ive never had a watch this accurate compared to a chest strap. Already done 10+ tests and its surprisingly accurate for running, at least for me.

  • I agree. I was able to Calibrate my stubborn buttons. All else seems to work well. I do miss a couple of faces that haven't been upgraded yet but that too will happen. My biggest, complaint is my garish orangish sensor cover. I'm a conservative guy who in my previous lfe wore a suit and a badge, and carried a pistol everyday. I would never wear orange socks. The sensor cover will be dealt with too.
