Broadcast heart rate Fēnix 8 -> my Edge 1050

I'm using my Fēnix 8 with my Edge 1050 to broadcast my heart rate to the 1050. This worked well with my Epix 2. However, I cannot get the Edge 1050 to find the fēnix 8 heart rate sensor. I've tried to enable broadcasting from an activity and standard Watch Settings -> Health & Wellness -> Wrist Heart Rate -> Broadcast Heart Rate, but the Edge 1050 does not see the sensor.

fēnix 8, 51mm Amoled running version 11.59
Edge 1050 running version 10.15

Is this a bug or am I doing something else wrong?

Hi Brendan I too had this issue yesterday with my Edge 840 ..... Not great, Not great at all

i have this issue when pairing zwift to it, BUT, wait for about 2 minutes and you'll see it pair, sometimes it takes much longer... i don't know the reason. same thing is with the wahoo wind, with the epix it picked up the ANT+ signal in 3 secs after I enabled broadcast, now it takes minutes for some reason

Patience is critical, indeed. After 2/3 minutes, I got it paired. A couple of minutes after I started an activity, it reconnected.

@philipshambrook I tried both manually and during an activity.

Same issue here with an Edge 1040, wait approximately 2 min and it will see it

Same here. I tried my 1050 with other watches (different Forerunners and Epix Pro), it's working. The F8+Edge1050 is inoperable, the Edge can't recognise the F8 as HR sensor.

You have to push the play button to start to broadcast (you have to see the red heart icon). Then the 1050 will recognize. I had the same issue

I have the same issue with Edge 840. It takes around 2 minutes to find it and also 2 minutes to connect again.

I have the same issue. The workaround is to open the activity on Edge (I have 840) then wait for 2 minutes and 5 seconds and then it will connect (I tried it several times and it connected in the exact same time). I have provided these details and video to Garmin for investigation.

The important part is to not start the activity as it would not connect afterwards. You need to wait in the paused state until Edge finds the sensor.
